Etago Extra Special is a naturally processed lot that has been anaerobically fermented with Ava. This combination of Ruiri 11, Batian, SL28 and SL34 was cultivated in Kisii County, Kenya, between 1400 - 2200 m.a.s.l, and processed by Misadhi Coffee in the ward of Rongo, Migori County.
From Farm to Cup, Quality and Innovation Shine Through
At Rongo Washing Station in Migori County, Kenya, they are passionate about producing exceptional coffee. Led by Sidney (Lot 20) and his dedicated team, they go above and beyond to ensure every bean meets their super high standards.
Here's how the magic happens:
- Local Sourcing: They work directly with farmers in nearby wards, building strong relationships and ensuring fair practices.
- Transparency & Traceability: Each ward's cherries are processed separately, allowing them to track quality and identify areas for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: They provide ongoing support to farmers, including seedlings and agronomy training, to enhance coffee quality and yield.
- A Delicious Discovery: During routine cleaning, they stumbled upon a unique fungus (Aspergillus oryzae) that naturally enhances sweetness. This "extra special" ingredient is now cultivated and used to create their most exceptional coffees.
Experience the Rongo Washing Station Difference:
- Unique Flavour Profiles: Their coffees are known for their exceptional sweetness and complex flavour profiles, thanks to meticulous processing and innovative techniques.
- Sustainable Practices: They are committed to environmentally and socially responsible practices, supporting the local community and protecting the environment.
- Limited Availability: Due to the current season's low yield, their "extra special" coffees are in limited supply. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to try them.
