About his awesome decaf coffee:
Mountain: 1,500 MASL
Variety: Batian, Ruiru 11, SL28, SL34
Process: Washed / Decaf
Producer: Samuel Koskey
This beautiful washed AA lot comes from Kericho County in western Kenya, grown at high elevation and processed by producer Samuel Koskey at his small satellite washing station in Kunyak, Koru — a region long celebrated for producing some of Kenya’s most iconic coffees.
Samuel runs this micro-facility on his own farm, where Lot 20 has invested in 10 raised drying beds and fresh spring-fed water lines, enabling him to produce a clean, vibrant, classically “Kericho” washed profile. Just 2 km down the road sits the Coffee Research Institute, underscoring the area’s deep coffee heritage.
After processing, the coffee has been decaffeinated through the Ethyl Acetate (EA) natural decaffeination. The result is a decaf that maintains the clarity, structure and complexity Kenyan coffees are prized for.
The Story of Lot 20
The name Lot 20 originally represented founder Sidney Kibet’s simple goal back in 2019: export twenty bags of Kenyan coffee to the UK. Since then, those ambitions have grown — a lot.
Today, Lot 20 collaborates with farmers across western Kenya and has built a reputation for experimentation and quality innovation. They explore new fermentation styles using fruit pulps, specific yeasts and unique fungi, all aimed at:
-
elevating cup quality
-
increasing the value of each lot
-
returning more income directly to producers
