This super fine coffee is grown in the region of Tolima in Colombia. The coffee is Typica variety, which is one of the original coffee varieties. What makes this variety special is it's larger bean and lower yield. The typica coffee variety often has complex notes and a super sweet honey, caramel, sugarcane aftertaste.
Jorge Elias Rojas Vasque is a 34-year-old producer, with a 9-year-old son. Born in the village of La Armenia where he currently has the farm called La Roca. Jorge likes to carry out different processes with his coffees in order to discover the different flavours and aromas that can be found in them.
LA ROCA farm is located at 1,857 meters above sea level, with 4.5 hectares in production with varieties such as caturro, geisha, Colombia and rosé bourbon. This beautiful coffee farm is surrounded by natural reserves and waterfalls.
Since 2017 Jorge has dedicated himself to studying and developing coffee processes. In 2018 he was the winner of the Millennials coffee contest at the planadas expo. In 2020 he was the absolute winner of the PLANADAS AROUND THE WORLD COFFEE AUCTION. Jorge was also a finalist in the cup of excellence 2020 contest, its LA ROCA STATE coffee brand in the COFFEE MEDIA roasted coffee contest in Colombia ranked 5th in the Processes category, in 2022 ROCA STATE was the winner of the Top Roast contest, in the category of Traditional coffees.
The farm was also selected amongst the ten best coffees for the fair in the United States in the city of Boston, in the contest carried out by the Colombian Cup of Excellence in 2022, it ranked third place with a Honey coffee. Jorge was nominated in the COFFEE GROWER OF THE YEAR IN COLOMBIA category.
