We are super proud of the wonderful Carnival speciality coffee Community that has grown beyond our wildest dreams over the last nearly three years. Thank you so much for being a huge part of it.
The last year has seen tremendous changes in the coffee world. As I am sure you know, the pandemic has had a big impact on green coffee availability and logistics. The cost of production has grown for farmers mainly due to increased labour and fertiliser costs. Here in the UK, we have seen packaging costs increase by a third, green coffee nearly double in some cases and shipping costs to the UK are up by 60%, with more rises on the horizon. This has been compounded by adverse weather affecting the harvest particularly in Brazil and political unrest in key coffee producing countries such as Colombia.
We have tried our best to swallow the extra costs, it didn’t feel right (it never does) to increase our prices during lockdowns and continued restrictions. Our top priority was keeping you caffeinated and providing great, ethical coffee.
However, in order for us to keep doing what we are doing and survive as a small, indie, family business; we need to pass on a small percentage of the costs and bring Carnival Coffee Roasters in line with the prices of other specialty Coffee Roasteries in London.
The new prices will be live on our website from the 7th of February to give you time to stock up before then :)
We promise to never compromise on the quality of the coffee you receive from Carnival, ensuring high scoring, traceable, ethical and single origin coffee. We want to continue giving the farmers and their beans the respect they deserve through buying year on year at prices they deserve for their quality coffee.
We will continue to use biodegradable labels, fully recyclable bags, and invest in planting a Mangrove tree for every coffee order we receive. Since the beginning Carnival Coffee Roasters, we have included free local cycle delivery in the cost of a bag of coffee, and a low minimum spend for UK wide free shipping, this won’t change.
